    “Defining Our Stories, Transforming the Image” as its organizational theme, IBFF strives to insure culturally accurate depictions in film with special emphasis on providing a forum for unheard, unseen and unknown viewpoints, and to showcase the rich creativity and diversity found in communities of color locally, nationally and internationally.

    Duruflé – Requiem, Op. 9

    Punctuated by moments of great majesty and transcendent serenity, Duruflé’s Requiem combines the melodies of Gregorian chant with the colors, rhythms and harmonies of orchestral music. The composer himself wrote that this lush choral piece “represents the idea of peace, of faith and hope.” These performances will feature the American All-Star Senior Choir, an ensemble featuring some of the nation’s finest young singers. This concert will also include a brand-new piece by Haitian-American composer Daniel Bernard Roumain, an alumnus of Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music who incorporates a diverse array of cultural influences into his music, from hip-hop to Charles Ives.
